Question and Answers

Q:

Why did the ice maker on my KitchenAid model KSRS25qdwh00 fail?

A:

The ice maker can be checked independently. In this model the ice maker is always hot (has voltage to it). A technician will have the necessary equipment to test this but he will also use a simple jumper wire. The jumper wire will be well insulated and with the refrigerator unplugged at the wall outlet he can jump a couple of terminals in the ice maker to check it. I have included a picture of the ice maker test points. First he will jump the T-H terminals and then plug the refrigerator back in. If the ice maker runs he will let it cycle completely to check the water fill. If it does fill then he will know the problem is in the ice maker. If it doesn't fill then he will unplug the refrigerator again and this time jumps the L- V terminals. With it plugged back in now he will check for just a water fill, if it does fill he knows the water valve is ok and the problem will again be in the ice maker. If there is no fill the problem will now be either in the water valve or the wire connecting to the valve. In this case he will need to use his meter to determine the problem. I hope this has helped you but if you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
