A:

Replacing the tubing for the water dispenser is generally the same installation for the Kitchenaid refrigerator as for other models. I provided a link with similar information that may help. The expert will respond shortly to your specific question.

Thank you for your question. Replacing some parts can be a challenge sometimes. The information you have received from Anna is very good. First, disconnect power to the unit and shut the water supply valve at the wall off. Now, disconnect the water line at the connection under the freezer door and be prepared to catch some water. I'm attaching a picture of how this fitting works. Now, remove the front dispenser cover (see second image) and for easier access, the bracket control (# 15 in third image). This will give you easy access to remove the screw, holding the water fitting (# 10) and you can now pull the loose water line up through the door. To replace the tube, reverse the procedure and push the tube back down through the door and reconnect it, at the fitting under the door. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

I know it can be frustrating when the icemaker stops working. If the light flashes 2 times pauses and continues this while the door is open, its normal. If the light is not on at all, first disconnect power to the unit for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. If the light still does not work, the boards will need to be replaced. These boards come as a kit and the number is # 4389102. This type of problem can and does occur but it is not a real typical problem. I'm sending you some pictures with instructions to replace these boards. Be sure to disconnect power first. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

Why is my KitchenAid icemaker not working and the LED light is out next to the ON/OFF switch?

A:

Why is my KitchenAid icemaker not working and the LED light is out next to the ON/OFF switch?

The LED light not working as well as the ice maker not working may or may not be associated with each other. Here's a list of some possible causes:

  • The Ice Maker Is Turned Off - Some ice makers have a switch, others have metal arms.
  • The optics board for LED needs replacing.

Both of these can affect the ice production as well as the led light. I recommend calling a service technician for a proper diagnosis.
