Question and Answers

Q:

I ordered and have recievied a Kitchen Aid Refrigerator Water Filter (4396508) for A Model #KSRS25FGSS13 Kitchenaid Side-by-side refrigerator.

A:

That filter comes with a protective plastic cap on top. I assume that you removed that cap before inserting it into the housing. If not, remove the cap and position the filter in the housing as shown on page 13 of the Owner's Manual. If the filter cannot be pushed in all of the way to engage the fitting, then slowly rotate it around until it fully seats and can be rotated the 1/4 turn. If necessary, remove the bottom front grill so that you can manuver that filter into place properly.

If the filter is left out of the housing or is not engaged in the fitting, then the water system will not leak. The system has an automatic bypass on the filter housing. The water just won't be filtered if the filter cartridge is not properly installed.
