Question and Answers

Kitchenaid gas range power burner control knob stopped working

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the stem of the gas valve that the knob fits over is not being pushed in far enough, you will not be able to turn the burner to the "Lite" position. If you cannot turn the knob, take the knob off and push inwards on the gas valve stem to see if pushes in. If the stem will not push in, the gas valve will need to be replaced. If the stem will push in, push it in and see if you turn the stem. If you're not able to push and turn the stem in either direction, the gas valve will need to be replaced. If you can push the stem in and rotate either direction, check the stem on the knob and make sure it's not broken or cracked.

If it needs a new gas valve, I strongly suggest calling a service technician to properly access and remove and replace the gas valve. When dealing with gas, I strongly recommend calling a service technician.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
