Question and Answers

Why does my dryer overheat?

This type of failure indicates that you have a heater element that is shorted to the dryer cabinet. This will cause the element to heat constantly as soon as a cycle is set. I recommend replacing the heating element.

The part number for the heating element is 279837. You can order it from the Sears PartsDirect website.
