Question and Answers

Q:

Is there a reset on the microwave in my KitchenAid electric oven with microwave (built-in)?

A:

There is not a reset button on this microwave that can be used to reset the microwave. There is a possibility that the control board was damaged by the power surge during the storm. There are some fuses inside the oven/microwave that could be preventing the microwave from working. I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this type of problem. The microwave has a high voltage capacitor that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when power is completely disconnected from the oven/microwave unit. Specialized training is needed to safely work on a microwave. The shielding of the microwave must also be checked following any repair of internal components. These are the reasons why I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this microwave failure.
