Question and Answers

Why can't I get my oven door to unlock after the self-cleaning cycle was turned off?

The oven must cool down to a safe temperature following a clean cycle before the lock light turns off and the door can be opened. If you attempt to slide the latch lever while the lock light is still on, you can damage the door lock mechanism. If the lock light stays on and the oven is at room temperature, then you have a component failure that would need to be serviced by a technician.

Make sure that you are following the proper steps to unlock the door. The oven door cannot be unlocked while the lock light is on. The stop time control must be popped out. The clean latch lever must be moved to the left before turning either control to OFF. If you have followed all of the steps properly as described in your owner's manual, then you could have a mechanical failure with the lock mechanism. This type of problem would need to be diagnosed and repaired by a service technician.
