Question and Answers

Q:

upper oven not working KEBS278SSS04 Kitchenaid 27

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kitchenaid Range, Model: KEBS278SSS04. From reviewing the details on your model, you could have a thermal circuit breaker that has tripped on the back of that upper oven. Check the bake and broil element for any apparent visible damage. If you see no problems with the elements, then you shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven and pull it out of the cabinet. You can use the installation guide to help you pull that oven out of the cabinet. Once you have the oven out of the cabinet, find the thermal circuit breaker on the outside back panel of the oven. It will look like the one shown in the image below. Push that red button to reset that component. Re-install the oven and see if the upper oven will heat. This initial troubleshooting may fix your problem. If the oven still won't heat after resetting that thermal circuit breaker, then you could have a bad clock control board in the console or a wiring failure that is causing this problem. There is a possibility that the thermal circuit breaker could be bad. It is unlikely that both the bake and broil elements would go bad at the same time.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the range to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.
