Q:

IR Sensor Sensitivity Sony KDS-50A2000

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your television. I am so sorry the IR sensor has lost sensitivity. I know the TV is a key part of our daily lives and know you want to get it fixed quickly. In this case, I recommend you have the TV repaired by a qualified technician.

We do not give diagnostic or repair advice on televisions because internal components in the TV can retain a dangerously high electrical charge, even when the TV is disconnected from the power supply. Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your home repairs but in this case, for your safety, we recommend you have the TV serviced. To set up service go to www.SearsHomeServices.com or call 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. I hope we can help you with any future repairs. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

The problem would be the optical black. The optical block is the main portion of the TV that processes the video data into the picture itself. The optical block part number is A1203196A. The replacement of the TV might be more cost effective than the replacement of the optical block.

It looks like all the audio is processed on the main board. I would start by trying a different input or device to make sure the audio is not working on them as well. IF the audio works with something else then the TV might not be the problem. If the audio is the problem it could be the voltage being supplied to the audio circuit or the audio circuit itself. The best possible part to fix the issue would be the main board. The repair for this type of problem would start about $400.

I would try taking the cable off the box and hook it up to the TV. If you have audio then the cable box could be the problem.
