Hello Karla,

I'm sorry to hear that your television has malfunctioned and I would like to assist you.  A loud pop and loss of image could be caused by several items within the television like the panel, the inverter board and the power supply.  An issue like this is not user serviceable and I suggest contacting a local television repair service or following this link: Sears Home Services, to arrange a repair appointment with a Sears Television Technician.  It is likely that a component on the inverter board or one of the high voltage cables or connectors has arced.  The power supply section that provides the power required to light up the lamps in the LCD panel has either been damaged or is in a shutdown mode.  This will require extensive testing to isolate the issue.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.

Hello Jan,

I'm sorry to hear that your television is not displaying correctly and I would like to assist you.  It appears to me that one half of the panel (screen) is dark and has a distorted image.  If this is correct, this is usually caused be either the T-Con or the panel itself and requires replacement.  The T-Con is not available separately and the panel is not available for this television at this time.  To verify what is going on, there is a quick check and it would be great if you could post an image on a reply too.  Using the menu key on the remote control, bring up any menu that is in the middle of the image.  Is the menu also affected within the dark and distorted half of the panel?  If it is, this is very likely to be a panel issue.  There are some other possibilities like a loose connection on the LVDS Cable, but that should be checked by a technician.  The inverter PCB is unlikely to be the cause of this issue, it controls the backlighting of the set, but it will not cause a distortion as it does not directly function to process the image data that is sent to the panel.

Please let me know what you find and I'll be happy to assist you further.

Thanks for your input Marc. I took a pic but could not figure out how to get it into this relpy. i've tried several options but none have been successful. The Menu does not appear to be affected by the distortion. If this is true, what does that indicate?

Hello Jan,

The images that can be posted on this forum have a 2 Mb size limit. You may have to save your photo in a smaller file size to post it. If you are certain that the menu is completely normal in the affected area, then that is good news and this could be an issue with the main board and that is replaceable, but it will require a technician to perform the replacement due to the fact that the board will have to be properly set up for the television. I suggest contacting a local television repair service or following this link: Sears Home Services which is a link to arrange a repair with a Sears Television Technician. Your technician will verify if this is a panel failure or indeed a board issue.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.

Q:

tv brightness

A:

Hi abdon, I have this issue from time to time, it seems to come and go. The Manual usually has tips to clear this issue. There is a lot of technical advise on the web but you have to decipher what is being said. I found a site that you can look at in plain English that may be helpful. I attached the link below. Hope this helps!

Another adjustment that you can try is changing the Power Saving setting to LOW or HIGH. This might adjust the brightness to the level that you want.
