Finding replacement parts can be difficult. I see that part # 242638 may not be available. I recommend checking with Sears Parts Direct to see if it is available before trying a substitute. You can call them at (800) 252-1698 to have this researched. As to the similar part # 4163370, it does look fairly close. You can try to see if it will fit. Take out the old one and verify the dimensions are the same. I can't guarantee it will be a good substitute. Let us know how this works out. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

In order to access and replace the detergent dispenser will require removing the outer door panel. It will be fastened to the inner door panel with 8 screws. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before removing the outer door panel.

Without having the model number of your specific model I wouldn't be able to provide any instructions on how to remove the outer door panel. Generally speaking there will be screws on the inner door panel threading into the outer door panel.

So that's what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete model number. The model numbers are typically located around the tub opening after opening the door. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Steven: Thankyou for adding the model number. Open the door and remove the 4 screws behind the door while holding the front panel in position. Close the door and remove the panel by pulling out at the lower edge of the door, lowering and while withdrawing the panel. Disconnect the electrical leads from the dispenser. Remove the bi-metal and holder assembly. Remove the retaining screws. Open door and lift out the dispenser assembly. Reassemble bimetal to just touch or have 1/64" clearance from stop on the swing arm. Note: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before servicing.

Thank you for your question.

I have searched for the wiring diagram and posted it below. If you are looking to bench test the motor, you will need to wire a relay in for the start winding. If you do not use the relay the motor will most likely hum without starting.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the dishwasher.
