Question and Answers

Q:

changing my microwave int light

A:

the microwave is a great appliance since it can reheat your meals very quickly. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. If you think it may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

Replacement of that interior light in the microwave should only be completed by a service technician. I do not recommend that you attempt to complete that task yourself. As noted by Joseph P. in the above response, microwaves are dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having problems with your microwave. By what you have stated, I would suspect there is a problem with a stuck button the touch pad but without doing some checks I can not be sure. Because of the extremely high voltage a microwave generates and can store even when unplugged, we do not give repair information on them. We strongly recommend having a service technician replace the control of the microwave. I hope you understand we do not want a customer getting serious injured or worse. We will gladly give repair advice on all other appliances. You can have the microwave repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website to set up service: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life

Ok, since you think its the touch pad what is the part # for it? The microwave is stainless steel with a black touch pad. Could you also give me the part # for the actual main Control Board. Thanks!

Thank you for the reply. The part number for the black touch pad is 4456880 and the main control part number is 8302345. The parts can be ordered from out parts website Searspartsdirect.com. I strongly recommend having a service technician service the microwave because the cost of the touch pad is $260.00 and is non-refundable if installed. I have included the links for the parts and service below. Please let me know if you need further assistance on this.

Let me correct my first statement on this Microwave, it first started displaying "Door" on the control panel, so I replaced the hinge and then nothing would display on the panel. It wouldn't even work. I might have hooked up the wiring wrong to maybe blow a fuse. So I need a copy of the wiring system. Could I please get a copy from you. Thanks!

Also, if I've tested all of the Thermal Fuses and they test fine. What else could it be other than the control board?

A:

The control board will display the door error whenever it detects an open circuit in the door interlock switch circuit. The door interlock switches are inside the cabinet where the door catches go in and hook when you close the door.

I was able to locate detailed information about testing the part on another site. To view the information, please Click Here
