Question and Answers

Q:

the spin cycle on our kitchen aid washer doesn't always work. I can use all four wash cycles and it only works sometimes. Does it need a new switch?

A:

Well something that would have this kind of information will be in your owners manual. I know exactly how hard it is to keep track of all the owners manuals in your home but something that is very handy about Manage My Life is that you can find just about any manual on here. All you have to do is go to the top of the page and click on the tab that says "MANUALS" in the search box type in your model number then you manual will be available for you to view. I have attached the link below for you to view while waiting on your response from an expert. Hope this helps!

If the washer will drain the water but not spin could indicate a gear case, clutch or timer issue. If it had not drained and spun then the failure is likely an intermittent lid switch issue and not likely the timer. Intermittent problems can be difficult to diagnose. You will likely need a technician to diagnose the intermittent failure. Based on the serial number provided the washer was manufactured in the 33rd week of 2001.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer. Call Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to set up service.
