Q:

Kenmore fridge not cold, but freezer is... 596.75232401

A:

Hello, I don't know the answer to your question - but maybe you could help me out. We have the same refrigerator model, but I don't know my program code? Could you tell me the program code of this model? It's located inside the refrigerator on the chrome sticker. It starts with "Code:" and should be a 2 digit number. I can't get my refrigerator started without it :(

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 596.75232401 From reviewing the details on your model, the defrost system failed to defrost the evaporator coil and it is frosted over. When the evaporator coil frosts over air can't circulate through it enough so the cold air that would be cooling the refrigerator section is not getting there.

The damper control that determines how much air flows into the refrigerator section is not opening. The damper assembly should work immediately after being replaced. The temperature inside the refrigerator will take 12-24 hours to show improvement.

If the refrigerator does not work after replacing the damper, the belt, belt tensioner, or the refrigerator section control knob might be slipping or not adjusted correctly. The control knob and damper assembly have to be adjusted properly. Be sure the control on the damper is set to the warmest position when the control knob is at the warmest position.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

One burner on my gas stove will not light up unless using a match. We replaced the electrode, but that didn't help. What do we do next?

A:

It is important that all of your burners are properly working. While you are waiting for an expert to respond, I have attached some helpful links below that may provide information to assist you with your question. Have a great day!

When any of the burner switches are closed to light the burners, all of the igniter electrodes should spark at the same time. Check to see if the electrodes are sparking when that one burner that is not working is turned to the "light" position. If the igniters do not spark then you probably have a bad burner switch (part WB24K30) or a wiring failure in that circuit. If all of the electrodes are sparking correctly during that test except the one on the burner that won't light, then you could have a bad spark module (part WB13K25) in the console or a wiring failure in that circuit. I provided a wiring diagram in the first image below and access information in the second image. That information should help you check the wiring and the components. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components.

If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine the range and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Check that burner head to make sure that all of the ports are clear. Cleaning that head may fix your problem in this situation.
