A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Microwaves are one of the products that we do not assist in providing any technical diagnostic assistance. I would have let the service technician complete the repair in case he mis-diagnosed the failure. This way you would not be stuck with a part that is not needed.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.
