We don't recommend that you attempt to repair that type of failure on a microwave yourself. The microwave contains high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when it is completely unplugged. A microwave shielding leakage test must be performed on the unit following any service. That is why we recommend that you have the microwave diagnosed and repaired by a service technician. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

The failure could be caused by the control panel assembly or the smart board.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. Any repairs that involve the door or any repairs that require accessing the internal parts will need to be performed by a service technician with the proper training and knowledge in order safely repair your microwave. A microwave leakage test should be performed after any door repairs. NOTE: Microwaves inherently store huge amounts of voltage even when unplugged. Never attempt to repair your own microwave.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
