Q:

How to install microwave vent grill? JVM1850SM2SS Ge Microwave

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the vent grille on your GE microwave model JVM1850SM2SS. I am so sorry it fell off.  I will be happy to help you with the installation instructions.

The installation instructions for the grille are not clearly identified because they are included with the information for replacing the charcoal filter, which is installed behind the grill. Be sure to disconnect power to the microwave whenever performing any maintenance.

There should be two screws on the top of the grille. Once they are removed the grille can be slid to the left to remove it. You may find opening the microwave door makes it easier to slide the grille. Since the grille on your microwave fell off, I suspect either the screws are missing, or the grille may be cracked and the screws cannot hold it in place. If you need the replacement screws, the part number is WB01X10406. If you need to replace the grille, the part number is WB07X11175.

I have included the links below for you to view the owner’s manual and the installation guide online. These will be great references when you need to perform future maintenance on the microwave.

The information about the grille will be on page 38 of the owner’s manual and page 22 on the installation guide. I have included an image at the bottom of this post that includes that information for you in one location.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

No power to the microwave JVM1850SM2SS

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your microwave. I am so sorry it has stopped rotating and heating food. I know what a time saver the microwave is and I am sure you want this issue fixed quickly.  In this case I recommend you have the microwave serviced by a qualified technician.

We do not give diagnostic or repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged from the power supply. Special equipment is needed to work on a microwave starting with an anti-static wrist strap grounded to the microwave to even test components in it. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after ANY/ALL microwave service.

For these safety reasons I strongly recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663). Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous for a do-it-yourself project.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with any other questions and repairs in the future. Thank you for choosing Sears.
