Q:

JVM1650SH01 GE MICROWAVE - not warming up JVM1650SH01 Ge Microwave

A:

I know what a time saver the microwave can be and how inconvenient it is when it isn't working.

I can appreciate wanting to diagnose and repair the microwave yourself, however I strongly recommend against it. We do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. You need special equipment to work on a microwave starting with an anti-static wrist strap grounded to the microwave to even test components in it. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service.

For these safety reasons I strongly recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician by calling 1-800-469-4663. Q:

I have a microwave, model JVM1650sh01, 13 months old. If I hit any button it flickers 1 second or less and shuts off. What causes this?

A:

Around 90% of the time with this symptom the touchpad has failed on the microwave. Ten percent of the time it is the smart board.

To replace the touchpad you replace the control panel assembly. It is fairly expensive and you might consider replacing the microwave. The part number and price of the control panel is below.

Part number WB07X10800 CONTROL PANE 1 $169.99
