Wanting to know if your Microwave is vented is a really great question to. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to visit Sears Parts Direct website to speak with a Sears associate. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. The over the range microwave combination vent hoods normally come set up from the manufacturer to recirculate the air back into the room, however according to the installation instructions specific to your model, it is shipped to vent out the top for outside venting. This does not mean it couldn't have been changed before installing. In order to know which way your microwave is vented it will need to be taken down and then you will be able to see which way the blower is installed which dictates which way the air is blown, up or to the rear.

Based on the installation instructions specific to your model, it states "NOTE: This microwave is shipped assembled for Outside Top Exhaust (except for non-vented model)." See image below taken from the installation manual for model JVM1631WB007.

Most of all the new ones today come shipped for recirculation back into the room. If your want it to vent outside, the vent motor must be position per the installation instructions that come with the unit.

The position of the vent motor assembly dictates which way the exhaust air is going to vent. If you need it to vent/exhaust outside, the vent motor assembly will have to removed and rotated so it blow out the back or the top of the microwave.
