Question and Answers

Q:

oven shuts off - when gets to hot JTP35DP1BB Ge Electric oven

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your oven. Upon researching model JTP35DP1BB; it could be the control board if this issue is occurring in both upper and lower oven. It does sound like the board being that it won’t go into self-clean and locks the door when it gets too hot. It could be the thermostat or sensor if the temperature is not staying consistent with the temperature you selected.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

This may be a procedure that your husband can complete. I provided an illustrated procedure for completing this type of repair in the image below. You can show him the basic procedure for opening the control console in that oven. The control board would need to be removed to access that faceplate. Your oven will probably look different than the ones shown in the images below but the basic procedure will be the same. If he is confident that he can safely complete this repair, then he should be able to use the information shown below to change that face plate. Make sure that he shuts off the house circuit breaker for the oven before beginning this repair. If he needs more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If he does not feel confident repairing this problem, then you can have that face plate replaced by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
