Question and Answers

glass replacement for GE cooktop

I completely understand your need for some type of instructions on how to properly replace the glass on your cooktop. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the cooktop was installed according to the installation instructions, you will need to remove the oven from below the cooktop. The cooktop is held in position with hold down retainers which will need to be removed. There could be foam tape under the outer edge of the glass top to prevent any spillage from running under the glass top. The top should not of been glued down. It may require two people to remove the oven but not the cooktop.

The cooktop will need to be taken out, per the instructions I added below. The instructions below will cover the procedure of removing the glass top. I added two images below. NOTE: Disconnect the cook top and the oven before removing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
