Hello Conrad. We are sorry to hear about that problem that you are having with your Jenn-Air microwave. There is a slight chance that you can correct that problem by resetting the electronic control board. Unplug the microwave for 3 minutes to completely disconnect electrical power. Plug the unit back in and see if the display works properly. If not, then a service technician will need to repair that problem.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.

You can schedule service online with Sears Home Servicesor by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

Thanks for the feedback. So, is the technician going to have to replace the whole control board, or is it possible to replace just the display, or to tune the display to increase brightness?

The technician will need to examine the components and check the wiring connections. The upper PCB control board with the display will probably need to be replaced.
