Question and Answers

Why won't the igniters work properly following a cooking spill on my GE cook top model JGP328BEJ1BB?

I am not sure what you are indicating when you say that you hear ignition only through the spark module. If the spark module is making noise when a burner switch is turned on but you do not see sparks at any of the burners, this could indicate that you have a failed spark module. If the spill damaged the spark module, it will need to be replaced. You could also have residue from the spill that is preventing the sparks from arching across the spark electrodes on the burners. Residue in the gas ports of the burners could also inhibit gas flow during ignition. This could keep the burners from lighting properly. Make sure that you unplug the cook top and clean all parts of the cook top thoroughly. Allow the cook top to dry thoroughly before trying to ignite the burners. If the burners do not ignite after cleaning the cook top and allowing it to dry, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the cook top. If you want to take a chance on replacing the spark module, you may be able to fix the cook top by replacing this part.

You can order a new spark module from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the spark module is WB13T10046.
