Q:

Why is the oven not working on my GE range?

A:

On something like this we need to know if the bake igniter is coming on or not. If the bake igniter is not glowing when you start the oven we will need to check the voltage to the igniter with a volt meter. If the igniter is coming on but not lighting the burner we need to check the current draw with an amp probe. I suspect the bake igniter is faulty. Other possibilities; safety valve, thermostat or wiring. Please see the image provided for more information.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
