Touch Panel Cascading Failure JES9900BAS Jenn-air Jennair cooking

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your range. Upon researching model 66595012100; it sounds like you may need to replace the control panel that includes the touch pad. The control panel tells the control board what numbers you are pressing, so when the control panel fails it can cause the touch pad to become unresponsive. I have posted a link of the control panel to view the link click here.

I trust that this information will help you, thank you have a great day.

Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com, and for being a valued member.

Replacing the oven control/control panel can be a tricky process if you’ve never done it before. The part number you’ve provided is for the control panel, not the electronic control board. If you need the electronic board, the part number is 8507P234-60. The biggest thing with replacing the electronic board is to make sure static electricity does not damage the board during handling and installation. Definitely unplug the unit before disassembly of the control panel and accessing the control and switches, and it is recommended to wear a ground strap while handling the electronics. If you’re just replacing the panel, you will still want to avoid static electricity when switching out the control and switches to avoid damaging them. Once taken off and put onto the new panel, you will plug the ribbon of the panel into the control board.

You could also ground yourself by touching any grounded appliance or metal water pipes before taking the control board out of the package. Be sure that you’re not standing on carpet and wearing shoes that may generate any static electricity and it should be safe to handle the control board. Be sure to handle the board by the edges and do not touch any of the circuitry or components. Wearing a ground strap however is recommended. The control board is an expensive part and is very sensitive, so you want to take every precaution possibly before handling it to ensure it doesn’t damage.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps, and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
