Question and Answers

Q:

Oven nor down draft fan does not work JES9800BAS Jenn-air Jennair cooking

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The oven and fan receive their power source from the electronic control board. I would suspect that the relays on the board have shorted and the board is no longer providing the power sources.

In situations like this however, we do recommend having a Sears technician help assist with the diagnostic/repair to make sure the correct parts are identified and replaced correctly.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Top was hit hard and now much is not working JES9800BAS Jenn-air Jennair cooking

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Jen-air model number jes9800bas.

with the problems you are having, then would have to highly assume your control clock has gone bad, or maybe just needs to check on the wiring to see if it is bald wire or has been disconnected.

I would check the control board, for the problems  you are having, before anything else.

1.  Always on repairs to first unplug the range.
2.  Pull the knobs off the front of the panel.
3.  Unscrew the frame from the back side and you can see the clock there in the middle.

With this happening after a watermelon fell on top of the controls, I would highly assume it will be disconnected wires so check that first.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Q:

Jennair

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have full understanding of the failure. If the key pad buttons of rapid pre-heat, convection and the vent fan will not accept the command, it is likely the touch panel. If the indicator light comes on indicating it see that you selected one of the above and that function does not come on, then it is likely a control board failure.

In order to diagnose which one has failed, the membrane switch will need to be disconnected from the oven control board and tested using an Ohm meter and the information in the image I added below.

I added images below to reference in order to diagnose the failure. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power source before servicing.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.
