Q:

MOD JES 8850 BAS oven will not work. stove top does. clock/timer works but no other buton on control panel work JES 8850 BAS

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your range and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number jes8850bas and the neutral and ground are wired correctly. Here is a link that covers information on this. From your description I suspect that the controller has failed. Usually when the range top burners work and the oven does not, this indicates that the board has failed. I recommend having a trained service technician test the controller before replacing the part. I trust this information will help you.

Q:

My oven doesn't cook even JES8850BAS Jenn-air Jennair cooking

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your oven and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number jes8850bas and oven will maintain an interior temperature. The inside of the oven will be all the same temperature and will not vary in different sections of the oven. The size of the items being cook has alot to do with the amount of time it will be cooked for. If you are having issues with the temperature not remaining the same or taking long too heat up, you may have an issue with the oven controller or the heating elements. I trust this information will help you.

We have a Jenn-air double wall electric that developed a mess inside the door window when my wife spilled some grease on the inside of the open door. The large appliance center where we purchased exclaimed warranty will not cover cleaning and we should not even attempt it. Checked other appliance dealers/service and they also warned it is very tricky and requires proprietary tools to accomplish. Cost ranged between $150.00 to $200.00 and possibly more. Finally I held my breath, removed the door, removed 3 screws on top and 3 screws on the bottom. The inside panel of the door came right out of the outside panel. I cleaned the inside of the outside glass panel and the outside of the double sealed glass unit easily. I re-assembled and installed the door, actually looks cleaner then new. I am the household hero. I would have been so very upset to watch someone do what I did and charge me $200.00. Go for it!

Thanks Biker Dave and Ron! Woo-hoo!! Our Jenn-Air JMW9530CAB Wall-Oven door had an additional hinge retainer just above the hinges held on by a screw. Otherwise the door came off as described. The hinges closed as we took them off; there is a hole through each hinge to allow a small nail to keep them open while reinstalling. Recommend others insert the nails first. We took off the top and bottom 3 screws on the door and easily got the door pieces apart. Then there was another glass inside that was held on by 4 sheet metal screws. The remaining two glass pieces were an assembly and could not be taken apart, but they weren't too dirty inside. Note: be gentle with sheet metal screws, they are fragile. Also prepare your rug or towel lined work area and cleaning supplies ahead of time.

Yes Vickie, After being warned by appliance repair crooks of how complex and difficult the task is and will cost starting $180. min , I bit the bullet. Just removed the door and set on a pad, removed several screws on each side and it fell back from front. Easily cleaned the glass and re-assembled. Piece-O-Cake. Hard to trust any dealers anymore.
