Question and Answers

Q:

my dishwasher door falls down is it the spring or the door spring link that failed and is it easy for me to repair/replace JDB6510AWP Jenn-air Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with dishwasher. Upon researching model JDB6510AWP: it sounds like you may need to replace the door link. The door link holds the spring in place so that the door does not fall down, so when the door link breaks the door falls down. To replace the door link you will need to open the door and pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet a little. Then once the door is open you can lift the link of the hinge and unhook the other end of the spring, if the link is broken then you will see either a piece of broken link on the spring or on the floor. I have posted a link below of the door link.

I trust this information will help you, have a great day.

Hi Brandon,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

Most likely the heating element is shorted to ground, but it can be caused by reverse polarity in the house wiring.

The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please reply below and I will be happy to give you the checks.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Why won't my detergent cup open?

A:

The image you submitted appears to show a detergent pack with a rinse aide ball in the detergent cup. That could be the reason why it will not open if it's too thick and you have to push the lid down firmly in order to latch the dispenser cover. When the detergent pack is too thick it will cause a lot of friction on the latch causing it to not be able to unlatch the cover. Try using powder detergent in the dispenser or try with it empty. NOTE: Do not overfill the dispenser cup with powdered detergent so that the lid/cover has to compact the detergent when shut and latched.

If it will not open when empty the failure could be:

  • Wax motor
  • Timer
  • Loose wire connection.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.
