Q:

heat selection problem HYE3658AYW Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com

I understand your frustration, based on the information you have provided the temperture switch is most likely the part that needs to be replaced. The part number for the switch is 53-4395. I also recommend testing your thermostats, because that could the less likely reason for the temperture problem.
If you need further assistance, please resumbit your question with additional details. Thanks for visiting SearsPartsDirect.com

From the description you give I suspect the belt has come off the drum and is tangled around the idler pulley or the drum rollers have gone bad.

I'd suggest you start this project by raising the top and checking the belt. Removing the front panel would be next so the drum and support rollers can be accessed.

I suspect the humming noise you hear is the motor running but with the belt off/broken the drum is not turning.

Remember to unplug the dryer before removing the top and front panel.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to move the vent to a different side of the dryer.

First REMOVE POWER to the dryer.

You will need to lift the top of the dryer first.

Locate the two spring clips in between the top and the front panel about 2 to 3 inches in from either side.

Use a putty knife type flat tool to push in on the spring and lift up at the same time. Do this on both sides until you can lift the top like a hood on a car.

Then locate the retainers on the inside of the front panel that secures the front panel to the dryer side panels and remove.

Lift up and off with the front panel up and disconnect the door switch and light wire harness.

Then you will need to release the dyer belt from the motor and use the belt to lift the drum out of the cabinet. This should give you access to the vent work you will need to do.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
