Q:

ADJUSTING FREEZER TO BE COLDER HTH17CBTZRWW

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with refrigerator. Upon researching model HTH17CBTZRWW; there is only one temperature control for the unit. The control adjusts the freezer temperature in the freezer. The fan then blows the freezer air into the refrigerator. You will want to put things that can freeze near the door and items that have a lower freezing temperature near the back.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

my temperature dial doesn't have numbers and it's hard to tell how to turn it up or down HTH17CBTZRWW Hotpoint Refrigerator t series

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your knob wears out and you cannot read the temperature. I do recommend replacing the knob. We do not have an option to write on or fix the knob for the numbers. Click here to order the part. Let me know if this helps.

I find it comforting that both Natasha and Sherman can find it in themselves to be so "understanding" yet neither one realize what the OP's issue actually is. This model of refrigerator doesn't have a temperature control dial with numbers on them. Instead the dial starts with "off" and then, going counter clockwise, has an "asterisk" followed by a what is best described as a "half circle arrow" that starts wide at the top and tapers at the end. Looking at the owners manual associated with the refrigerator my inclination would be that point in rotation where the dial stops with a "click" would be considered "5" or the median point. Rotating it clockwise from this point will cause the internal temperature to increase while rotating it counter clockwise would cause the temperature to decrease. I placed a thermometer inside mine while it was at the median point and the temperature remained constant at 37F. The optimal temperature for milk, as an example is between 35F and 40F so this should suit most individuals needs. The link that both of you provided that redirects to the PartsDirect page doesn't have an image of the knob so anyone ordering this will likely end up with exactly what they currently have which is a dial without any numbers.

Sorry Natasha but that isn't the temperature control knob for this model of refrigerator. I have this model and created an IMGUR account just so I could post an image of what the knob actually looks like. http://i.imgur.com/4BlOcVi.jpg I purchased this refrigerator less than a year ago and the knob that I have varies drastically from what you are trying to represent as the standard control knob.
