I just connectect the power directly to the compressor and it did turn on, so I believe the thermostat was the problem. But when I did turn it on and turned it back off I heard some swishings (water like) once it was disconnected. I'm thinking this was the reason my thermostat went bad in the first place, what do you think?

James, the swishing sound was probably from the refrigerant flowing in the system. It can make this type of sound at times. This would be a normal sound. I hope this will help you.

Thank you for the input. The good news is that I have a copy of the OM. The bad news is that it doesn't have any specific repair details. I hope one of the Techs can help me.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there are no instructions for replacing the thermostat. There will probably be a couple of screws holding the thermostat cover in place. Disconnect the power and remove the screws holding the cover. Now, lower the cover and you will have access to the thermostat. Remove the existing thermostat and install the new thermostat. It should be just like the original. This should be a 2 wire thermostat, so it won't matter which terminals the wires connect to. However, it would still be a good idea to pay attention to how the wires are connected on the original thermostat. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further. Any pictures of the original and replacement thermostat would also be helpful.
