Question and Answers

Q:

Hotpoint dishwasher does not clean dishes

A:

I understand how important it is to have a Dishwasher that is working properly since dirty dishes do gather quickly. I have done some research on the Manage My Life website on your issue and have located similar information that you may interested in viewing. While you are waiting for an expert to reply /i have attached a few links below.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details it sounds like the dishwasher may not be filling with enough hot water. Start the dishwasher and after it has time to fill, open the door and the bottom of the tub should be covered completely with water.

The dishwasher needs to fill with enough hot water so the pump can recirculate and pump water up through the spray arm. The water temperature should also be at least 120 degrees minimum entering the tub. When the dishwasher is running you should not hear the pump pulsating like it's starving for water. You should hear a constant sound of the pump and no surging.

If it's filling with enough water, then you may need to inspect and clean the sump located underneath the rear inlet cover (key#506) inside the tub in the back. Remove the two screws (key#833) and the lift the inlet cover off and then lift and remove the sump cap (key#508) and then carefully reach down and remove any debris or cellophane that could be causing a restriction to the pump. I added an image below to reference the key numbers.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
