Thank you for using Manage My Life. When you say the furnace turns on when you hit the power switch, I assume that you mean you hear the furnace blower and draft inducer motor start running or just the blower motor?

If you hear just the blower motor running, it should do that and stop after about 90 seconds. The control may sense that power was applied and removed multiple times and is doing that out of precaution.

If the draft inducer motor (or also called the exhaust motor) and blower motor are running at the same time without the furnace being lit, that means that the furnace control board is trying to alert you that there is a problem. On the furnace control board will be an indicator light which you should be able to see through the panel. It will flash an error code which will match to one of the codes on the furnace blower door panel.

Leave the power to the furnace on. Go to the thermostat and turn it to OFF and the fan to AUTO. Then go to the furnace and turn the power to the furnace off for 30 seconds. After that, turn power to the furnace back on and go back to the thermostat. Set the thermostat to HEAT and the fan to AUTO. Set the temp about 5 or so degrees above the current room temperature. Go back to the furnace. Look at the LED indicator and reply here with what error code it flashes if it flashes one at all. Keep in mind that when you turn the power back on, the blower may run for 45-90 seconds before shutting off.

Good morning Andrew, When I turn the switch off and then on I hear a couple of things: 1) the fan ; and 2) the gas ignition. .....just went downstairs and to turn the system back (I turned the switch off for about thirty minutes to see if that would help). while down there I looked for the flasing led light that you mentioned and saw it flashing 8 times. According to the owners manual 8 Flashes = Permanent Lockout - Gas valve relay contact stuck closed or miswired gas valve (power reset only). fyi- I just had my gas hot water heater replaced a few days ago....not sure if/how they could be related but thought that I would mention it. PLease advise and thanks for your continued support! respectuflly, Matt 804-898-1368
