Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern of water pickup during the scrub cycle.

The suction motor runs all the time. It picks up dirty water all the time that it is on.

It is working the way it is suppose too. I do believe it would have been better if they didn't design it that way.

The solution comes out in front by the squeegee and it will pick the water no matter if you are moving forward or backwards in the Wet/Dry or the Wet scrub position.

In referring to page 9 in the manual I located the sentence that say's it will pick up all the time and then I called the Hoover tech support and they confirmed that.
