Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model GX5FHDXTQ00; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description of frost in the freezer section I think there may be a defrost system issue. When the evaporator coils are not defrosted every 8 to 10 hours the frost accumulation will block air flow to the fresh food section thus no cooling. I recommend that you call for service and have a technician diagnose the exact cause of the failure. There are several defrost components that will need to be checked and tested. I hope this helps, if you need more advise reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

I have checked the model number you have submitted. Your refrigerator has a control board that determines the defrost cycle. It is called an adaptive defrost control. I have provided you with an image below that has the tech sheet and the wiring diagram. The tech sheet has a test mode that will force the refrigerator into a defrost.

If you need further assistance, please submit more details of the problem.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
