Q:

preheat oven. oven ignites and in about 30 to 45 seconds circuit blows in the breaker box. oven has worked fine for two years GW397LXUS05 Whirlpool Slide-in range - gas

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry about the problem with your Whirlpool GW397LXUS05 Slide In Range.  It is unusual for a gas range to trip an electrical breaker.  The oven should be on a dedicated 120 volt, grounded  15 amp circuit.  Do both the Bake and Broil cycles trip the breaker or is it only the Bake cycle?  If possible try another electrical outlet.  You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.

You could have a problem with that membrane switch pad or the electronic oven control in the console. Since this is a slide-in range and the controls are difficult to access, I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to attempt to repair this problem yourself, reply to this thread and we will provide you with some technical information that may help you properly diagnose and repair this failure.
