Question and Answers

What should I check on my Whirlpool model GU940SCGQ2 dishwasher doesn't work after a long time of non use?

More detail would be helpful in diagnosing this problem. After a long time on non use the motor seals might seize the motor and prevent it from turning but the water valve should work.

You don't mention it anything works like the water valve or if there are lights on the control.

If the unit is completely dead then the thermal fuse would be the first thing to check but the fuse usually fails in a cycle and not during non use.

The image below contains the wiring diagram and may be helpful to you. If the unit is completely dead with no fill and not hum or lights then check the thermal fuse first.

If the motor seems to hum then the 3rd image shows how to access the impeller. Access it and try to turn it. Over time the seals will dry up and seize the motor shaft. Turning the impeller may free the shaft and enable the motor to turn.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
