Question and Answers

Q:

What is causing my Whirlpool dishwasher to turn itself back on at times?

A:

The cause of the dishwasher turning itself back on is likely the console assembly. One sure way of knowing is to disconnect the power supply to dishwasher and then disconnect the console ribbon connector from the control board and then reapplying the power and wait to see if it starts up by itself. If it does, replace the control board, if it doesn't, replace the console. The console will cost approximately $110.00 and the control board will cost approximately $125.00. You may want to think about replacing the dishwasher rather that repairing it or install a wall switch for just the dishwasher and leave it turned off when you’re not running the dishwasher.
