this dishwasher is model number GU2475XTVB1. It is a flat black front with the controls on the top of the door. It is 14 months old and there is rust and flaking paint on the front just above the vent on the front for steam, right above the handle. Whirlpool and hhgregg say this is cosmetic therefore not covered under the 5 year warranty. The front is very contemporary and I have ordered a new front panel #W10130955 from Sears. I am thinking this looks like an easy install. Just unscrew the 14 screws inside the door edges, unscrew the handle, slide the old front off and the new front on and reattach screws. Has anyone done this. Service is another $130. I filed a complaint with the BBB.

Hi Gail,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

You just need to remove the screws and lift the panel up and off. (See images below)

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Q:

THE CLEAN LIGHT IS FLASHING ON MY NEW DISHWASHER. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?

A:

The flashing clean light indicates that the dishwasher control does not detect the expected rise in water temperature during the water heating cycle.

If you installed the dishwasher yourself, make sure that it was installed properly and that you have a proper water supply. A low fill level could possibly cause this problem. Low flow or water pressure from the fill line would prevent the dishwasher from filling properly. A siphon problem caused by the drain line not being installed properly could also deplete the fill water while the dishwasher is heating the water. Here is a link for the installation guide for your dishwasher in case you need it to check these issues: Installation Instructions .

Since the dishwasher is new and is still under warranty, I recommend that you call Whirlpool for service according the guidelines in your owner's manual. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .
