Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your questions about you GE washer. I am so sorry to hear that the tension springs may be off. I know how often I use my washer, so I am sure you probably want to get this repaired as quickly as possible. I will be happy to help you with this.

I have included some diagrams that will help you with accessing the springs to see if they need to be replaced. I have also included the links to order the parts in case you need them. If one spring is broken, you should replace both of them so that they wear evenly. When you replace the spring assembly, you should also replace the socket rod support.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect power to the washer before beginning this repair to reduce the risk of injury from electrical shock. You can do this by either unplugging the washer from the outlet or disconnecting the circuit breaker.
