The wash and spin light is blinking.

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating for your appliances to stop working proplery. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I was able to do some research. The lights that are flashing indicate an error code for the machine. I have attached and image of the error codes. This will tell you what it wrong with the washer. I hope this helps.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The wash and spin LEDs indicate a critical failure, which according to the tech sheet involves the lid switch/lock. I am including the tech sheet below. This will walk you through the service mode. Entering the service mode should re-establish washer function unless the critical failure remains. The unbalanced condition may have damaged the lid lock mechanism. I have also included the wiring diagram so you can check the lid lock/switch if you have access to a meter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed. I am looking forward to assisting you again in the near future.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

I am having a similar issue. My washer clicks/knocks 4-5 X's and does not go to the next step. The display has either was or rinse or spin blinking. When I hit the start button again and again sometimes it starts...sometimes it doesn't? This is so very aggravating for a new unit. Also when the dryer is n it makes a thumping sound. I opened the door and the drum moves back and forward...how do I tighten as I tried the 3 screws on the inside but still the same...HELP

Q:

Dryer will not work GTUP270EM0WW Ge Laundry center

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your dryer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number GTUP270EM0WW and this issue is most likely caused by a bad motor, belt switch, or friction issue. If it's the motor humming when start is pushed then the start button/switch is Okay. Open the door and manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction. If it it's too hard to rotate then it could have a seized motor or a drum bearing issue. If you can turn the drum; shut the door and push start. If it starts; the motor is likely going to need to be replaced. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.
