Question and Answers

I installed a new door gasket on my GTH18GBDCRWW top refrigerator door. I can not get it to seal right. Bottom right hand corner will not set against frame.

Thanks for the information about your refrigerator model GTH18GBDCRWW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. It is not uncommon for the door to not seal correctly after changing the gasket; normally the fix is to tweak the door enough to make the seals fit properly.  To make this adjustment open the door (if there are screws that secure the gasket on you unit loosen them, most do not have screws) grip the upper  left corner of the door and place your leg at the bottom right corner(where it is not sealing) now pull on the top left. This should realign the door so it will seal, if it does not repeat until seal is complete all around cabinet. You can do this with any area not sealing just push on non-sealing section and pull on opposite corner. You may be able to find videos on you tune for visual help. If need re-inspect the gasket installation. If this does not help you may need to adjust the hinges, making sure the door is level and not sagging on the side opposite the hinges. Your refrigerator must be leveled also side to side and with the front raised about ½ inch higher than the back. I hope this helps you, if you need more help reply with added details and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
