Question and Answers

Q:

I have a older model ge refrigerator and I can't figure out which way to turn it up for coldest higher numbers or lower numbers( model) GTH15BBMFRWW

A:

If it's been cooling Okay before it quit cooling, turning the cold control to a colder setting will not likely help. Turn the fresh food control to a higher number would make it colder if the unit was operating normally. The fresh food section gets its cold air from the freezer section. The freezer control regulates the air flow into the fresh food section. Since the freezer is not cold enough to freeze water you likely have a sealed system failure. If the freezer fan, condenser fan and compressor are running then you likely have a sealed system failure. It could have developed a Freon leak or it may have an inefficient compressor. If you see frost or ice accumulating on the rear panel inside the freezer then it could have defrost failure or the sealed system is short on Freon.

You will need a service technician to diagnose and repair your refrigerator. Call 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to set up a service appointment.
