Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the humming noise is emitting from the water inlet valve, are you certain it will add cold and hot water? There is also a set of dispenser water inlet valves on the dispenser assembly too that could be faulty. I recommend removing the top and see if the detergent solenoid is opening on the dispenser assembly. The water inlet valve must open and the detergent valve must open in order to flush water through the detergent dispenser when the unit begins the fill cycles. You can access the dispenser assembly and the dispenser valve after removing the top.

Select a warm wash/warm rinse and then see if will put any water in instead of humming. Check every fill cycle and confirm if it will add cold and hot water.  You may want to turn the hot and cold off and remove the hot and cold fill hoses and then place the hot and cold fill hoses in bucket and confirm the water flow and volume. If there is plenty of hot and cold water, then it may have a faulty water temperature switch, timer or automatic temperature control board. Knowing where the humming noise is emitting from would be helpful.

Based on your symptom, it sounds like the push/pull knob is not rotating the dial when push/pull knob is pushed in and rotated if you have to move the dial manually. The push/pull knob must connect with the dial when the knob is pushed so that it will turn the dial to the cycle chosen or it may have a faulty dispenser valve assembly.

If the dial will not turn then the push/pull knob is pushed in, then I suspect it could have stripped push/pull knob or possibly the dial.

If the dial will rotate along with the push/pull knob when it's pushed in, then it could have faulty detergent dispenser valve assembly.

I hope this information is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
