Question and Answers

Q:

Water not working, ice maker does Ge Refrigerator t series

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number gss25qgtgww and the manufacturer recommends that the water filter on your refrigerator be replace every 6 months or 600 gallons, which ever comes first. This extends the life of your refrigerator and keeps your water clean and clear. For the water dispensing slow, here are a few possibilities:

Water filter may need to be changed.

Low water pressure to the refrigerator.

Bad water valve restricting water flow.

Kinked water line.

Remove the water line from the back of the fridge. Have a bucket with you so that you can see if the water is coming from the wall faucet is coming out with the proper pressure. If it has been more than year, I recommend replacing the water filter. If the filter is new you have a failing water valve. I hope this information helps with your troubleshooting. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

I can understand your concern if the plastic cover on the controls is damaged. Unfortunately, the plastic cover is not available by itself. It's part of the interface, which means, the interface # WR55X10857 will need to be replaced. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

GE Fridge Model # GSS25QGTGWW front display on freezer door is inop. Ice won't dispense, water won't dispense. Thoughts? Thank you - Dan

A:

This is usually a main board problem. First disconnect the power and check the wire connection under the freezer door. If the wires are ok, reconnect power and see if the display comes on. Unplugging and reconnecting the power will reset the main board. If it does work, the main board # WR55X10942 will need to be replaced. If it still won't come on, voltage on the red and black wires under the door will need to be checked. With the harness connected (must be connected) check for 12vdc on these wires. If it's not there, the main board will need to be replaced. If it is there, then voltage will need to be checked at the dispenser board to determine if a wire is broke inside the door or if the dispenser board has failed. To remove the dispenser cover to access the board, insert a small screwdriver under it and pry it off. It will be tight but it will pop off. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
