Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't the water dispenser work?

A:

The GSS model you have listed is a good model number. Will your refrigerator dispense ice or is the dispenser completely dead? If only the water dispenser is not working it could be a water valve problem, a frozen water line, the dispenser switch or the control board. There is a quick check you can make to determine if the water line in the door is frozen. You can take the water line loose at the connection under the freezer door but be careful there should be a small amount of water flow when you take it loose. Place a bucket or pan under the tube to catch the water and press the water actuator pad or lever. If the water now comes out under pressure it will mean the water line in the door is frozen. The line can freeze if the freezer gets too cold or from a lack of insulation in the door. If the freezer is too cold adjust the temperature to a warmer setting. If the temperature is ok it will indicate a void in the door insulation and the door will need to be replaced. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
