Question and Answers

Q:

refrigerator not operating properly GSS20IEPJWW Ge Refrigerator p series

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model GSS20IEPJWW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description of the fresh food section not cooling , but the freezer is working ok, I would then suspect the fresh food damper may be malfunctioning, and not allowing air flow to the fresh food section from the freezer.( Damper is controlled by demand from the thermistor/sensors and main board.)  This of course if the freezer is indeed working okay and does not have a defrost issue, restricting air flow, or the evaporator fan not operating properly and not moving air to the fresh food section. Defrost problems could be caused by bad defrost heater, bi-metal or control, and evaporator fan issue could be a bad motor, wiring or control. As you can see there could be many reasons for this problem and I would recommend allowing an experienced technician come diagnose the refrigerator. Normally there is a wiring diagram attached to the back of the unit or attached to the front bottom grill (inside). You can use this as a guide for testing the components to determine the reason for the non-cooling issue. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Having the Refrigerator getting a little bit of a power surge can be a concern. I have placed a link where you can view the Owner's Manual and see what you can take away from it.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. I suspect what may be happening is, the dispenser is shutting off, when selecting between cubes and crushed. This indicates a low voltage problem in the board. The board # WR55X10942 will need to be replaced. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . Thank you for using Manage My Life.
