Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't may Whirlpool washer model GSQ9344EZ0 spin?

A:

Many different problems could prevent the washer from spinning. If the motor will not even run so that the washer does not drain then you could have a failed lid switch. This would likely be a failure that you could fix yourself. You can unplug the washer and access the lid switch harness using the information in the image below. If you carefully place an insulated jumper wire in the lid switch to bypass it, you can check to see if this component is preventing the motor from starting in the drain and spin mode. If you are not comfortable with accessing internal components in the washer, then you will need to call a service technician. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If the motor is running but the washer won't spin, you could have a mechanical problem with the basket drive, the clutch or the transmission. If the washer will not agitate or spin then you could have a broken motor coupler. Here is a link of a previous answer that describes the repair of a motor coupler: What is wrong with a Kenmore model 110.2673502 washer when it won't spin or agitate?

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details (i.e. whether the motor is running and whether the machine agitates).
