Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You described broken pieces of the motor coupler which connects the motor shaft to the gear case. It would have nothing to do with the agitate dogs. When the motor coupler breaks the washer will no longer agitate or spin and will only drain.

I added a YouTube video showing how to access and replace the motor coupler . The motor coupler needed is part #285753A which can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect .

NOTE: Be sure to disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your washer.
