Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the over production of ice. There is an updated shut off arm # WR49X10103 for this icemaker that should resolve this problem. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

Why won't my water dispenser work?

A:

If only the water is not working, the problem could be with the water valve, the switch or board in the dispenser or the water line could be frozen. To check for a frozen water line, take the connection loose under the freezer door (some water will come out). With the connection loose activate the dispenser and if water comes out under pressure, it indicates the line in the door is frozen. This can happen, if the freezer gets too cold or if there is a void in the door insulation. The reservoir can also freeze and to check it, you will need to take the water line loose at the water valve. It will be the line going into the bottom of the cabinet. With this line loose, again activate the dispenser and if water comes out, it indicates the reservoir is frozen. If no water comes out of the valve, it may be defective but a voltage check will need to be made to determine for sure. A technician may be needed to make this check. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

Why does the water line in the door freeze and can it be fixed?

A:

The water line can freeze, if the temperature inside the freezer gets too cold (below zero) degrees. It can also freeze, if moisture gets in the door insulation, in the dispenser area. The freezer temperature can be adjusted to a warmer setting and there is also a heater kit that can be installed, in the dispenser, for this condition. If the temperature is ok, the dispenser heater kit # WR49X10173 will be needed and is available at SearsPartsDirect . A technician may be needed to install this kit. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question with more details.

Thanks for the reply. How do I get access to the water line in the freezer door that is frozen? Are there diagrams or manuals available with those instructions. Also, I was not able to find the heater kit WR49X10173. Is there another part number or heater kit available?
